Deja Vu

Date Wed, September 23 2009

Anyone hear ever heard of Deja Vu cosmetics? Ryan bought some for me on his way back from Iraq and I’ve started using their moisturizer (review to come). The packaging is nice; although, I’d never heard of the company before. It’s not a name I’ve run across when doing my usual shopping for acne treatment and other cosmetic products. Apparently, though, all the products originate from the Dead Sea so that’s kind of cool.

Expensive cheap product from Israel. Deja vu wants Americans to believe their product is a miracle and exotic from the Death Sea. Do not buy it, their products are cheap and inferior than the common good brands. Also they sell their junk at mall kiosks with funny prices, usually double price if you look it in common web stores. Don’t be fool by the salesperson with a heavy accent and lame jokes, it’s all sales strategy.

I bought their nail products and body lotion, my nails fiber got thin and weak and the lotion dried my hand skin. I can say it is not good. I wasted my money and it damaged my beautiful nails. I will not buy Deja Vu Cosmetics again. Watch out for their sales persons, they are liers and just want to get your money. Cheap product from Israel.

I would also say to stay away from Deja Vu cosmetics. This saleslady at the kiosk was selling me the nail kit and I gave her my credit card to complete the transaction. Then she proceeded to hide my credit card somewhere in her clothes while attempting to sell me more stuff-ie to add more charges to my card– at first insinuating that the extra stuff would be free, then saying it would be buy one get one free, only for me. I kept saying no, I’m not interested, but she kept going with her sale. Finally I said, “where is my credit card? I don’t want anything including that nail kit.” THEN she was like, “Oh, I’m so sorry I didn’t understand that you are saying no, because of our different accents! Here’s your nail kit, and your credit card.” That was such BS, she couldn’t understand 20 NO’s?? I was beginning to freak out that she was going to charge more money onto my card without my consent. It was creepy and shady and I will never buy from them again. It seemed like a scam. And the body lotion that came with the nail kit, which cost me $30 and was way overpriced for the products I got, smelled like crap (as well as had mineral oil in it).

Would recommend avoiding those stupid mall kiosks and any sales person from it who tries their shady sales tactics on you…..

Has anyone ever tried to return this stuff? My sister bought some and I am determined to take it back. What ever happened to ethics?

Almost got hooked at a mall kiosk with buying the nail polishing kit for $30.
The man did a really nice job on my nails (one hand) but I resisted buying it.

Yesterday went to a local drugstore (Rite-Aid) and found a nail brush with a shaper, polisher, and finisher for $2.99. Guess what? Worked fine on my nails… Just saved all of you some Christmas money…. Don’t buy from Deja Vu.. Not worth it. Danni

I just bought the deja vu facial peel and two eye shadows/blush things (totaled $53.00!!) no more than six hours ago and tried to return it. Obviously they forgot to mention the “no return policy” on all of these items and would not refund me. I am now stuck with these products but have decided to try them nonetheless. I have applied the facial cream and noticed it feels smoother but at the same time am sure it is my imagination. I’ll update tomorrow if it ruins my skin. (I am eighteen) On a side note, I am a graphic design undergraduate and while studying the box I noticed a spelling error on the facial peel box. “Once” is spelled as “Ones” as in “Apply “ones” a week…” not a big deal, but as an advertisement it is quite important to confirm spelling on any product.

Although I told them I was unemployed I was pressured into purchasing their nail kit. I later changed my mind. I took it back the very next day feeling anxiety before I even arrived at the counter. There was a difference salesperson there. I told him from the beginning that I did not want to hear the save the sale pitch and just wanted a refund. He kept at me went thru the whole sales pitch demonstration again telling me how “amazing” the product is. When I lost my patience and asked another salesperson to assist in my refund the second salesperson lied and had the nerve to try to pretend he did not work there and said “I’m just looking”! You would think that seeing this the first worker would do as I asked but he STILL would not let up. Finally I did get my refund and even than there was some push. I wanted to run out of there. I will NEVER go back. I simply do not think their product simply is not worth the money or sales aggravation!

Well, i just wanted to add a review since i can’t figure out where to do this on their page.
I recently started using their facial cleansing jell, and all i have to say is that it has been a huge disaster! I’ve used it for a week and have random dry burning patches on my face, terrible acne (which i can’t clear up because everything that touches my face burns), and worse skin than i had before. This product was a waist of money and time. I really would love to sue them for how terrible my face looks now and how misleading they are.
I also bought their all day moisturizer, and that was a pretty big fail, too. Doesn’t help with the dryness one bit!

But on a more positive note,
Their nail care products have worked fine for me

These guys practically crawl up your leg and ask you out for a date. They get too close then as you try and walk away they become more aggressive. Stay away from them.

I agree. I got acosted by one of these guys at the mall. I am sure it was because I was by myself. After I got some lotion, the guy grabbed my thumb and used the nail buffer on it, making it very socially ackward to pull away. I am sure they are trained to do this. Then he gave a song and dance. I am glad to have this website; now I know not to use the product because it actually breaks down nails. That makes a lot of sense. He gave it to me for “half price of $20,” but I wish I had just yanked my hand away and walked away. I hope someone else that reads these posts stays far away from this company and this product. It is not above board.

I too was a victim. She got me for the facial peeler and it was SO hard to get away from her. I fell for it and I am sorry. She did not try to return the credit card, but left on register and went to different side of kiosk to show me another product. What a fool I was!

I had a similar experience in the mall. The sales guy was persistant and yanked my hand and polished one of my finger nails and even rubbeb the body lotion on my hand. I was almost going to buy the nail buffer. But, since i had never heard of the brand i thought i would first check it online and then buy it. Thanks to you guys i will not be buying it! Thank you all!

Well, I am sorry to say I was talked into the nail kit. I am by far the worse person to try an d sell something too. I have passed by these people hundreds of times and would not even speak to them. Today,I did stop becuase I recently decided to stop getting acrylic nails after about 20 years. I am trying to strenghthen my own nails. I am sorry I did this now after reading all these negative reviews. I will try it and see what happens. I will post later and let you know. The salesperson was also very sweet but pushy.

I will be returning today and if they don’t give me full refund I will be reeking havoc upon them.

I too fell victom. The saleswoman seemed like she was hitting on me, calling me sexy and saying she liked me a lot. She grabbed on of my fingers, and I was seriously blown away by how beatiful my nail looked after she used the buffer on it. She said she was giving me a super special deal, because the mall was closing in 10 minutes. I said no, but she guilted my boyfriend into purchasing. After using it, I am convinced they use something special on the buffer they used in the demonstration. I could never achieve the same polish, and my nails became frail and thin from my trying repeatedly to obtain what I saw in the mall.

Well guys I wish I had seen this site before I headed to the mall…they got me for over $300 in products….yes, I bought almost everything they showed me…said no several, no many many times…he kept saying if you buy this I will give you this for free….blah blah blah! When I did get home, and checked my credit card receipt they charged over $300! I have now almost all their products and I am afraid to use it because of some of the comments you guys have left….they smell nice, but if they don’t do anything, or burn my skin I will be pissed! Oh well, do I just throw the stuff out? Live and Learn…STAY AWAY!!

I tried to avoid getting anywhere near the kiosk but my kids were with me and begged me to have the lady do my nails. She did my daughter’s too. I did not want to buy anything and the saleslady asked me if it was a question of budget. I said “always” and she offered the nail kit for $10 less plus a free facial cleanser. I caved and my daughter got a nail kit for $10 off as well and used her own money to get it. It’s been a couple of weeks and the nail file is already falling apart. The buffer works okay but stick buffers work better, are cheaper and easier to use. I’m not impressed with the cleanser and I’m glad it was free. I had a chat with my kids about staying away from the kiosks at the mall.

I fell victim to the aggressive and predetory sales tactics of the kiosk salesman at the mall .My granddaughter and I got a 2 for 1 “promotion” so it only cost me $60 for the nail kit. However a lesson was learned. They are always located in malls and are are always staffed by Israeli salespersons. They always take hold of your hand or elbow and start applying their lotions or buffing your nails. They go under several names another being SEACRET. My disabled daughter recently surrendered to their tactics and it cost her $100 . They are trained to prey on the vulnerable and needy. I have filed complaints with the malls involved .

OUCH! I was on my way out of the mall yesterday, when I made eye contact with the DeJa Vu Gal. Let’s just say she used every trick mentioned above! I loved what the nail buffer did! I was hooked, kinda. I bought the nail kit $30, AND serum $40. When I got home I opened the serum bottle and it was basically empty. The nail buffer worked for about 6 nails then quit! I am going to go get my 70 bucks back and file a complaint with the BBB. I suggest you all do the same.

My friend Kelly and I went to the mall one day and they always get you with those packets of lotion! As soon as she took it, which I said no because I know exactly what they do, the lady with the accent took her hand and was saying something about her nails. I couldn’t even understand her! I like my personal space and she was all up in it. After Kelly caved and bought the nail kit, the sales lady asked what Kelly used on her face and she told her! That would have been the time to leave. But then the sales lady whips out the facial peeler and goes at it on kellys face. And I’m standing there the whole time like, uh huh. Ok. Cool. And yes, Kelly and I both bought the facial peeler each for $30. This was all earlier this month. Well I used it tonight, and guess what? After using it a total of 3 times, including tonight, it’s EMPTY. They gave me an empty bottle of facial peeler for $30, the employee discount! My advice: stay far FAR away from these people.

ok omg I am ashamed to admit it but i bought over $700 worth of creams, and exfoliating scrub, they did throw in alot of stuff. On line the face mask is 550 I paid 350. oh I got suckered in, but I must say I’ve been using the products for a few days now. No burning and your skin feels super soft. The scrub is excellent and the moisturizer too. But we shall see as time goes on if the fine lines and wrinkles get better. Wish I did some research. The product does sell itself when they put the scrub on and the lotion. You automatically feel your skin feel beautiful… No doubt the scrub and the cream is worth it. However the face stuff I will see in a few months, (so I’m told by them). Will keep you posted….

Wow, that’s a lot of money. Considering all the things I could buy for that, I’m not really sure I could consider it worth it, even if it does seem to work. Surely there’s a more affordable solution!

I work with cardboard and alchol everyday and my hands crack, bleed, and burn. I bought the body scrub and the body butter, and they have made a huge improvement, with in the first week my hands were healed and now are soft. They gave me a bar of salt and mud face soap, and i love what it is doing for my skin.

I too bought into their “sale pitch”…I asked the sales woman if she used the product (facial peeling) and she assured me that e did and loved it…she DID warn me that the bottle used “vacuum” suction so it may be a little hard to get some out but assured me that I would be able to come and trade it in if I were having too much problems with it…she also gave me a “3 week gaurentee” and if I didn’t see any results that I could come back and she wrote her name on my receipt…she then talked me into buyin the cleanser and TRIED to talk me into getting the toner and moisturizer. I do commend her, however, for letting me know that I could get a cheaper/better mosturizer and cheaper toner

These people keep annoying me at my local mall, they are too pushy and will not respect my “no.” All their lies seem blatant and corny to me, but someone I know was taken in by them and purchased some of the nail products for me as Christmas gifts. What junk! It is dollar store quality at European import prices. I would much rather have gotten a 60 dollar gift certificate to Sephora. They claim to be “all natural,” and “hypoallergenic” but really are filled with chemicals, including one (isopropyl myrstrate) that is known to cause problems in people with sensitive skin. Do not believe a word they say, they are all liars. It’s a huge scam.
Oh, and their miracle nail buff? You can get one for three dollars anywhere else.
