When I heard about a possible review and giveaway opportuniry with Grteeting Card Universe, I as ecstatic. There was one friendly in particular for whom I wished to purchase a unique Christmas Greeting Cards and I began browsing the site to see if there was one that fit the bill — and there was!

Greeting Card Universe is one of those sites where you can create photo holiday cards but you can also browse through premade cards and customize the text on the cards to make it a little more special. It’s a great option if you don’t want to hand out the same cards as Great Aunt Mildred, which frequently seems to happen if you purchase your cards from a big box store. If you’re creative, you can even write your own message inside, like I did but the options that exist mean you don’t have to be. It’s also a pretty cool option if you’re an artist. Maybe you can get your work featured on a card.

I was pleased to find, when writing my own card, that I could also choose the location (top or bottom, left or right) of the message, the font style and size and whether the Greeting Card Universe logo on the back was smaller or more prominent. Greeting Card Universe then mailed me the card and a blank envelope. Now, I don’t want to give away the card I picked out for my loved one so I will tell you that the card itself was adorable. The color was right on par with my monitor and the printing quality. No one would be able to tell that it wasn’t a store bought card and I think being able to tell your friends and family that you wrote their card card, if your did, is awesome. I can’t wait to give mine away!

There were two areas that I see some room for improvement. When I was customizing the card, some of the font previews didn’t work. Secondly, the envelope/package that my card arrived in was a little.. spammy looking? If I hadn’t been expecting the card, I might have tossed it in the trash as an advertisement.

Overall, though, it’s a cool website and I’m happy to announce that one of you is going to win five cards of your choice from Greeting Card Universe. You can pick out some holiday cards or, because this post might be running a little late, some birthday cards to use during next year!

We didn’t buy very many things this year as far as Christmas decor. Wal-mart was a disappointment when it came to products and frustrating in terms of how many other customers were around. Target was slightly more successful although no less busy. (The checkout lines were insane when we first entered). We also managed to get quite a few items on sale. Unfortunately, they were also already sold out of a lot of stock by the time we got there so we didn’t manage to get more than 1 set of lights and 1 light up window decoration.

However, I really like the lights. I was initially wary of buying a Faceted Light Set because I wasn’t fond of the flame tip shape (sort of tear drop with a pointed end) but it has really since grown on me. I especially love how the faceted lights – which include red, pink, blue, yellow and green bulbs – appear. They leave a kaleidoscope-like pattern on the wall which looks amazing when the colours blend together. (I am kicking myself for not being able to find my camera!)

The lights come in strands of 45 and each bulb has a small clip on it to help put it up. I simply draped outs over the curtain rod and let it hang down over the window so I didn’t need any further tools. I actually didn’t notice the hooks at first but I think they could be extremely useful.

These lights are extremely bright and easy to see. They’re hung in our bedroom and we definitely have to unplug them or else we’ll get no sleep.

These lights are a nice addition to our Christmas decor. The colours and light patterns are gorgeous and I’m glad we snagged the last box.
