4 Things I Want to Do in 2016

I’m not one for resolutions. I think they’re kind of silly, and I don’t think the date on a calendar should be any more motivation to do things than simply needing or wanting to do them. But it does seem like there are so many days ahead of me, and maybe I can get a head start on thnigs I’m going to do anyway or, at the very least, come up with a more solid plan to do those things.

So without further ado, here are some of the things I hope to do in 2016!

1. Meet Other Bloggers

Like, in person. The best way about this would probably be a conference, and there are so many! I’m not sure which one I might go to. Blogher is probably too big, but I’ve got a few friends going to the Woodhull Summit in September. Of course, going to a blogging conference means I’ll probably have less money to spend on geeky conferences and…

2. Buy a House

This one is a huge perk — and it’s also the biggest risk of all the things on this list. If I’m being honest, I would like to put it off so I don’t have to deal with the risk or, even worse, the idea that I might not qualify. But i actually have an appointment with my bank to see about prequalifying and potentially opening up another line of credit when I want to apply for a loan.

3. Get A Second Tattoo

I’ve been meaning to do this for almost a year, now, and I have a great idea. The problem is that it’s a sleeve and it’s something so dear to my heart, I worry it will be done poorly.. and I’ll hate it. I think there’s no artist in town who I love enough to feel super confident about getting such extensive work done by them. Plus, tattoos are expensive. I wound up buying a new laptop toward the end of last year rather than getting this tattoo, and that’s ultimately more functional but I would still like the ink!

4. Become a Better Photographer

This is  always something that’s lingering at the back of my mind. While I might personally think that text is the most important part of a blog post, good photos make for better presentation. They make posts pinnable, and they attract readers, well, lookers. I wouldn’t sink a lot of money into a camera, but I could potentially see myself relying less on my phone camera and more on a point-and-shoot that’s high quality enough to last me a few years.

I know I could check out some books or online tutorials, and there are also Craftsy classes for photography. They’re really a good resource for learning all sorts of things, from cooking to jewelry making. Now, if they only could make my house downpayment!

Of course, there are other things I want to and will do: road trips, concerts, conventions, game nights and much more. I’m sure this year will go by in a blitz, just like the last one.

What’s on your to-do list this year? Let me know in the comments!
