Not So Hot in Here

Date Tue, September 25 2012

It’s getting a little chilly. While I am comfy and cozy beneath my blanket–and even have more that I can break out when it really gets cold–my little nose is freezing all night long. I’m not a big fan of sleeping completely under the covers. My room seems a tiny bit colder than the living room, so I’ve been sleeping on the couch a bit yet. I’m just not  ready to turn on the heat, and it’s been in the upper 60s and lower ’70s these past days, which isn’t so cold, but it does get pretty chilly at night especially when I’m walking home from Mom’s.

It’s beautiful, though. The leaves are just starting to change. I guess people flock to the Northwoods around this time of years for weddings because of the changing colors. I honestly had no idea. I like the idea of an outdoor wedding, but mine would probably be in spring. Just sayin’. My best friend and I were talking about this, and she said that wedding season was just starting here. I’d figured it would soon be ending and made a joke about freezing to death.

Today, I happen to be browsing and I see that you can actually rent or buy outdoor patio heaters and similar products for events like weddings or homecoming celebrations. It certainly makes it much easier to enjoy a party, whether you’re hosting or attending. A remember an outdoor bonfire I attended a few years ago. The fire wound up being much smaller than anticipated, so it gave off very little heat. We were all quite cold, and I think the party wrapped up sooner than it would have because of this. I would’ve given just about anything for a propane heater those days.

I don’t own my own home or plan events, so I don’t have to think about these things–luckily. However, if I could afford it, I would definitely consider using something to keep all my guests comfortable without hunching over a tiny fire barrel or pit. We’ve all been there. You know exactly what I’m talking about.

Have you ever attended an event with an outdoor heater?

It’s been in the lower sixties at night here, making the room temp about 64, which is nice but a little too chilly for me so the heaters have been on.

It dropped down to 33 a few nights ago. I’m okay without heat at night. I’m really pushing it off.

We’ve already turned on the heat. I actually like colder weather, mostly because I love blankets. That doesn’t mean I’d want to be at a wedding outside, though.

I’ve not attended an event per se, but have eaten many a restaurant patio dinner beside the warmth of a propane patio heater. Genius things! If we had a patio we spent time on in our backyard it would be a must!
