I like a good fantasy movie. I enjoy a love story. I love Ewan McGregor. He’s adorable and his voice. Not just his accent but his actual voice. Am I right, ladies? Of course I am. So it goes without saying that I enjoyed Jack the Giant Slayer, which I just saw a few weeks ago. If you missed it in theaters, you’ll soon have a chance to buy it for yourself on DVD or in high-def on Blu-Ray. You can also hold out for a free copy by entering to win a copy of the movie on Blu-Ray.

If you haven’t heard of Jack the Giant Slayer — what’s wrong with you? — let me tell you about it. It’s the classic story of Jack trading his precious horse for a few magic beans. Naive Jack is hopeful, but his father is furious at him because they need food and whatnot. You know how dads are. (Happy belated Father’s day by the by!) The beans turn into a magical stalk that climbs the sky to wear the giants are, waiting to devour every single man, woman and child. Panic ensues. Jack turns from farmboy to hero of the day.

To be honest, I didn’t much love the original fairy tail. It just wasn’t my style. I’m more of a princesses kind of girl. But I love fairy tales in general. It’s why I watch both Grimm and Once Upon a Time. The modern retelling of a classic story was much more up my alley than the story itself. It’s not a perfect movie. It’s not even the best movie I’ve seen this year, but it’s a movie that I’d watch again and even one with a few quotes.

I didn’t intend for this to be a review, but I’m a fan, okay?

So let’s get on to that giveaway!
