Ultra Last Cat Litter

Ultra Last Cat Litter

When it was time for new cat litter, I wanted something cheap. This new litter from Arm & Hammer was the same price, and I’ve used and liked other litters from the same brand in the past. This one actually had a coupon that would let me have it free, but I just missed the deadline by a few days. The official website sells this product because on its baking soda ingredients and other odor blockers, which will keep your litter box stink-free, even if you don’t scoop every day. It’s great for someone who’s busy or perhaps someone who has quite a few cats.

Unfortunately, that’s all hearsay. Despite scooping nearly every day, this litter just doesn’t seem any better than any I’ve used in the past. I’ve used it only a couple weeks, and it seems much worse, to be honest. It’s especially ineffective at  blocking the ammonia smell from kitty urine. Plus, Arm & Hammer Ultra Last is artificially-scented itself, which I hate.  At best, I try to avoid the smell. At worse, which is the case here, it mixes with the kitty deposits in a most horrendous way. I found myself practically crying and gagging as I scooped the box. Not only was the fake smell horrible, which others mentioned, but it didn’t do anything to keep the cat smell out, either.

Plus, it’s not all that great at clumping. It seems to get soggy and sticky, instead, so scooping takes more time than you’d expect. As others have mentioned in reviews on Amazon, the litter just breaks apart, letting urine fall right through your scooper and back into the box. I’m sure that doesn’t help with the smell at all.

Arm & Hammer makes much better cat litter. This one doesn’t live up to the hype at all.

I have to agree with you, I only used this once..and I wasn’t impressed at all..it didn’t help with the smell and the clumps do break up and the urine ended up in the bottom of the litter pan..yuk!
