CoolWay True Smooth Spray

Date Thu, April 3 2014

As someone who has pretty fine hair, I feel like I shouldn’t have to deal with frizz. But I do. Especially when it’s hot. Now, spring doesn’t ever seem to want to come to Wisconsin this year, but eventually it will (probably? maybe?) be summer.

I was actually a bit surprised when I received this product to review courtesy of BeautyStat and Coolway. I e wasn’t expected it, so I was confused when I opened the package. However, I saw this cool  looking bottle and I was intrigued. I’ve never used a product with a trigger. To be honest, I kind of love it. You can to remove a plastic piece to spray and you can replace it to keep it from spraying when you travel.

But, okay, it sprays. You know how to do that, right? You want to know what it does and how it works!

So here’s what Coolways is supposed to do:

  • Look like you just stepped out of a salon, everyday
  • Get flat iron results with just your blow dryer
  • Fast and easy! Blow Dry to smooth in half the time
  • Clinically proven to: Strengthen hair four times  reduce hair breakage by 75%, and reduce frizz by 50%
  • Safe and effective for all hair types

I’ll admit, I was initially confused. I don’t use my straight iron as much to get rid of frizz as much as I do to style it straight. And the style I achieve when I blow dry my hair is definitely a different one. However, I certainly can’t argue about stronger hair, now can I? It’s also supposed to cut down on drying time.

So I opted to start with the crazy  hair that you see pictured here. It was all ove rthe play and super voluminous and frizzy because I had went to bed with wet hair. I typically don’t, but my schedule has been strange lately. I am obviously still in PJs because I don’t bother to think these things through. LOL

I misted my hair around 30 times. You’re supposed to do it 25 times for short hair, 35 for medium hair and 45 times or so for long hair, which I will never have again.

I then set to blow drying with my round brush like I normally do, which didn’t take long at all given that I had just misted it. I haven’t noticed a necessary improvement in dying when hair, however. I should set a clock.

What I did notice was a coconut smell. Now, I kinda liked this, but many people don’t like the smell so you should know this before you use CoolWay True Smooth.

I finished my typical blow dry and took another photo. My hair did seem much sleeker, but it wasn’t perfect. It didn’t seem as effective as using my flat iron, and I would still need to use the flat iron to get a straighter style. However, it did absolutely look like I’d did much more than blow dry, and all I had to do was to spray a couple times before doing what I normally do.

And you get what you see in this photo collage. It looks pretty sleek.

But as you can see, there’s still a few flyaways.

I also have to say that while it probably make me look better over the day, it didn’t create an all-day style. Flat ironing can stick with me even through sleep without any product. I have to grab another “after” picture when I think of it.

Now, I wasn’t quite sure it was working well for me especially after I read some other reviews so I decided to give it another whirl. The third time around, I started with damp hair, sprays just 25 times and went to blow dry my hair. Drying was really quick — less than 10 minutes. My hair wasn’t super wet to begin with, but this was pretty quick.

Damp hair seemed to make all the difference, too. I started to notice my hair appearing straighter pretty quickly. Even using my round brush, my hair stayed pretty straight. I stopped styling as soon as it was dry, so this photo on the left isn’t me really working for an amazing hairstyle. However, it was certainly straighter than blow drying alone.

Plus, it was really soft. When I ran my fingers through my hair, it felt more like how straightened hair feels. I was way more impressed when I gave it a third try. I guess it just goes to show!

Third time's the charm?

One thing I notice when using Coolway True Smooth Spray is that I can tell I’ve used product. It’s certainly not as heavy as any of the hair serums that I’ve used, but it’s definitely not invisible to the touch. If your hair tends to be greasy or respond negatively to these products, you may want to skip this spray.

As for me, I like the fact that this helps you dry your hair more quickly. That’s more sleep or time with your family or whatever it i that you’d rather be doing than drying your hair. The sleekness and straightness might not be exactly as good as flat ironing your hair, but it causes less damage and it does more than just straighten.  It’s certainly worth trying.

If you want to try this, it retails for $24.95 per bottle, and you can save 10% with code BeautyStat14 (not including shipping revenue and taxes). BeautyStat is also giving a bottle away!

Like you, I have fine hair and deal with frizz…this looks great. And you can definitely tell a difference in the picture (your hair looks fab in that picture collage, by the way). And I love that it’s not heavy or sticky on your hair. I think I’m going to try this stuff. Thanks!

I’d love to give this a try. I flip flop between the straight look and a look with body. When I do straighten it, I could use some help with the flyaways.

I most definitely need to check this out. I’ve been using Frizz Ease’s flat iron/smoothing product, but am not 100% sold on it. It would be great to get these results just from drying my hair!

I haven’t seen this one before! I also have fine hair, and it frizzes. Right now I’m wearing it short and wavy, but I’ve been debating growing it back out (and straight).

I love Coolway! I’ve been using their products for about 2+ years and it definitely does wonders for the frizzy hair. I love the way it makes my hair feel so fresh and clean after ironing it, too. Totally recommend their sprays!

I haven’t tried any of their other products, but I’d definitely be willing if someone pitched me. ;)

I do think I need to use less of this product rather than more. OTherwise it just feels a little odd
