Jack Daniels BBQ Chicken Breasts

Every time I walked past this in the meat section of my local store, I stopped to drool. I’m picky about BBQ sauces, though, so it took quite some time before I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did.

Whenever I head to TGIFridays, my meal of choice is always their Jack Daniels BBQ chicken. It’s sweet with a little kick. This isn’t quite like that but I enjoy it, perhaps even more.

Like all precooked, prepackaged meats, the price is a little high. You’re paying around $7 for the main dish, and you’ll have to produce the side dishes as well. I made this with mashed potatoes. Some seasonal vegetables or a small salad would work well, too.

The package is easy to cook. My microwave runs a little hot, so I can usually shave a couple minutes off the cook time. When it’s hot, the glaze is pretty thin. It worked well as a sort of gravy for the potatoes, too. The BBQ sauce is on the sweeter side. Just a little tangy. Less spicy than I’m used to with JD BBQ sauce. To be honest, I liked it more with every bite.

The three breasts were good sized, evened in width. I found that one with a side was plenty for a meal. If you tend to eat larger portions, these will be on the small side for you. However, I got three meals out of it.

The chicken was very real. It wasn’t chicken byproduct. It was fresh and juicy, and I really enjoyed both the texture and taste. There wasn’t a whole lot of fat. Overall, this was delicious. The price means I won’t buy it all the time, but I will buy it again.
