Purex Introduces New Bottle with PowerShot!

Remember to check out the washer and dryer giveaway from Purex!

Laundry isn’t exciting, folks. In fact, you probably don’t give it more thought than “I should really fold those clothes but I know I’m just going to leave things in the basket and pick what I wear from there.” I actually do put most of my laundry away.

So maybe I think a little more about laundry than most people. But the same can’t be said once I find laundry products that I like. If it cleans well enough and smells pleasing, I’ll stick with the same laundry soap for years. I don’t like change, but I’m also kind of picky so when I like something, I really like it.

I’m not sure how likely I would have been to try Purex’s new PowerShot detergent considering this, but I do like that the company is doing innovative things with packaging. I definitely don’t think about how my laundry soap comes. I measure to the right line in the cap, and I always wind up wiping the cap clean because I’m kinda messy like that! LOL

So Purex is trying something new with PowerShot. Instead of the typical cap you twist off or even the little button dispenser, you flip open the cap and turn over the bottle. A load’s worth of soap comes out. Flip it upright and close the lid again. If you need extra cleaning power, repeat for a second dose.

What I like about this system is that it works and with little error. The dispenser gives you exactly the right amount of laundry soap, and the flipping action isn’t cumbersome or awkward that would prevent me from using this. I didn’t have to clean up any mess on the bottle afterward, either.

PowerShot is interesting but it’s not perfect. The soap comes out pretty fast at first but takes a while for the last few drops to dispense. This isn’t a huge deal but it makes it harder to spread the soap if you like to do that.

Because the detergent is pre-measured, it doesn’t work as well for spot treatment, either. You can’t take off the cap to use just a little bit. This would be problematic if I were hand-washing a few items.

I also ran into some trouble the first time I used the detergent when I accidentally dropped it. This wouldn’t have been an issue with a regular bottle, but the cap on the PowerShot bottle flipped open and some soap spilled. Now, it’s probably not more than a single dose, but I don’t want to have to worry about accidentally opening the bottle if I drop it or when I toss it in my laundry basket as I’m likely to do!

Finally, the bottle seems small. It actually has enough product for 45 loads. I suspect the design makes it seem like it has less product than it does. Plus, it’s concentrated. If you do tend to buy laundry soap in bulk because you do a lot of washing, you might want to stock up when you can find PowerShot on sale!

As for the smell? I received a bottle in Mountain Breeze scent. It smells fresh and clean; although, it’s not amazing. I can live with that, however!

You’ll be able to pick up Purex PowerShot starting next month. You can also stop by the Purex website for more information.
