#Rimmel #RockinIt Mascara and #MoistureRenew Lipstick and Liner Review

Date Tue, December 2 2014

The last items in my #ModaVoxBox that I’ll talk about here are Rimmel makeup items. I received three to try: a new mascara, lipstick and their universal lip liner.

On with the reviews!

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara

I really enjoyed the last Rimmel mascara I was able to try out thanks to Influenster. This time around, however, the product was a miss. Rockin’ Curves mascara has an S-shaped wand that I find interesting but difficult to use. It’s not good for lashes in the corner of your eyes or the smaller lashes on the bottom.

The look was a little lackluster overall and a little spider-y; although, I did manage to get one amazing shot of it. However, it took less than two hour before the mascara had smudged off below my eyes. A waterproof option might be better, but I already have three or four mascaras that I quite like, so perhaps I can find a new home for this one.

I wouldn’t go out of your way to buy this or anything, but it counts as an add-on item at Amazon!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick

I’m not much of a lipstick wearer at this point in my life; although, I wore tons of bold red lipstick in high school. I’ve really come to love lip gloss. In fact, Rimmel’s  Show Off lip lacquer is pretty much the best of both worlds — more opaque, high shine and creamy without being sticky. I’ve been able to try a couple Moisture Renew lipsticks and, to be honest, they aren’t memorable to me.

The description has this to same about  them:

  • Intense colour pay-off
  • Ultra-creamy, soft texture moisturizes lips
  • Vitamins A, C, E help care for lips
  • Available in 24 shades

They’re creamy, but they’re definitely not an all-day lipstick. I could feel it coming off within a few hours. Bummer.

The shade I got, Red Alert, is a shade of red vibrant enough for Gwen Stefani. It’s just this side of orange-red, so it looks fairly coral in some of my photos, but it’s darker than that. I think it would look great with a smokey eye look, but I tend to go for more blue reds.

The lipstick was a great chance to try Rimmel’s new Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner. This looks like eyeliner in white, but it’s actually a lipliner than goes on clear/translucent. You use it to line your lips and it stops feathering. This is a fantastic idea that seems to work pretty well. It’s such a simple idea that I’m surprised no one thought of it before.

Because it is clear, it’s kinda hard to tell where it is, so I would err on the side of drawing a little outside your lips to give a full appearance and going over it a couple times to make sure there’s enough product. However, I experienced pretty much no feathering when using this lip liner, even after touching up with a tissue. As you can tell from my photo, my application is a bit rusty. LOL!

Moisture Renew Lip Liner will work with any color or brand lipstick, so its definitely something I’d add to your arsenal if you wear a lot of lipstick.

Got it from Influenster

Thanks to Influenster and Rimmel for giving me a chance to try out these products! All opinions are mine.
