Snow Kiss Cookies

Every once in a while I want to do a review for a recipe that I find online. Tonight, I tried three different cookies.  These “Snow Kiss Cookies” are fairly similar to some meltaway cookie recipes that I’ve seen in the past. I’m certain I’ve had something similar. I guess they’re also called Mexican Wedding Cookies.

The ingredients are pretty similar; although, I had to pick up some vanilla to make these.

  • 2 Oz. Walnuts
  • 2 Sticks unsalted butter
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp. Salt
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla
  • 1 & 3/4 Cup Flour
  • Powdered Sugar for coating your cookies after they bake

My cookies didn’t turn out nearly as pretty as those in the recipe that I followed. They never do. I’m all about taste over presentation.

However, mine didn’t taste quite right. I could definitely tell these would taste good if something wasn’t off. They tasted salty, almost like baking soda — which isn’t even an ingredient. I think I would try them without the salt next time, but I’m not entirely sure that’s what the problem was. It could be because the recipe I followed failed to mention the vanilla at all. I only realize this at the end, so that’s when I added it. I looked up similar recipes and you add vanilla toward the beginning.

Still, I’m interested in trying other variations in the future! These are almost so close to amazing.
