Sautes for Two Steak Gorgonzola

Sautes for Two Steak Gorgonzola

I have reviewed more than one Stouffers product in the past. I am a fan of the brand, in general. I like their TV dinners and their microwavable family meals as well as their skillet products. So, when I saw the Sautés for Two™ Steak Gorgonzola meal, I thought I’d give it a try. I’m not a huge fan of steak but I like Italian type meals and this seemed to fit the bill. It requires a bit more prep work than their other skillet meals. You have to thaw the sauce packet, cut it open and cover the meat, noodles and veggies before allowing it to cook.

When I was emptying the bag into the pan, I immediately noticed how many peppers were in this meal. It was easy to smell them. The sun-dried tomatoes seemed a little on the short side in comparison. I absolutely love sun-dried tomatoes in my pastas and am not such a fan of peppers so this made me a sad panda. The noodles and steak were in good proportion, however. Stouffers advertises this as a 2 – 4 serving meal with 730 calories per serving if you simply split it so you may want to eat a bit less.

Cooking was easy enough and I was soon taking my first tastes. And then I remembered exactly why I do not like steak. It has no taste. Steak just seems extremely bland to me. It might be because I like my meat well cooked and this decreases the flavor but not only was this steak bland, but it just didn’t seem to soak up the flavors of the other ingredients very well. The gorgonzola sauce was nice but, as I suspected, the whole thing was a bit hotter than it should have been–in my opinion–because of so many peppers. The tomatoes were good but there were not nearly enough of them.

I wouldn’t mind having this again, especially to appease a steak lover, but it didn’t really hit the spot.

I spotted the Steak Gorgonzola in the freezer section of the grocery store and because I like cheese flavored sauces with pasta, I thought I would give it a try. The steak was very tender and the sauce was exquisite. It was more than enough for my husband and I will buy it again for sure.

I won a free sauteé for two off a Facebook contest & and for as much as it ended up cooking out to be a delicious (but small… thank god) entreé, the nutrition facts were terrible!
I was hardly surprised being an overly preserved, frozen dish but 70+% saturated fat along with 1000 mg of sodium (for the meal) is disgusting… Hey America, this is why you’re fat! Learn to cook fresh food & you can give yourself another 10 years. (NOT a sponsered review… Let’s see if it gets “published.”)

Thanks for leaving such a flippant comment!
