Sweet Moments Molten Lava Brownies

Pillsbury Sweet Moment BrowniesHave you seen the new commercials for Pillsbury Sweet Moments treats? I actually hadn’t seen the commercial before I ran across the items in the store but it looked interesting anyway.

The ones in the commercial are actually a chocolate-covered brownie bite but I got the Molten Lava Brownies. They’re a lot like the Mini Delights by Betty Crocker, except these are refrigerated. They come two to a box so.. it’s definitely cheaper to make your own brownies.

Anyway, if you go this route, you’ll take out one of the little brownie bowls, strip off the plastic and microwave it for 10 – 15 seconds, according to the directions. The directions are on crack, however. They warn not to overheat this but I’ve microwaved it up to 30 seconds and it still remains moderately cold and the “molten” chocolate on top barely melts. Totally annoying.

It’s tasty but nothing compared to the molten chocolate cakes you’ll order in a restaurant. The texture is definitely more like cake than brownies, in my opinion, and something non-chocolate would balance it out nicely. It’s not awful, just not something I’d be likely to purchase again. There’s a nice coupon on the website, though, if you’re interested.

Dude that sucks. I’ve been eying these but I agree that it would be cheaper to do it myself.

@Dez: OR even buy brownies from the bakery of your store.
