Venus Embrace [Followup Review]

Date Sun, June 22 2014

The other day, I signed on to write a review for Venus Embrace razors, having completely forgotten that I already wrote that review. I received one Embrace blade in a pack of Venus Divine razors, and I wrote a review about its lackluster performance.

When I wanted to write this review, I had many of the same thoughts.

  • The size of the razor head is large and makes it hard to get some places.
  • The moisturizing aspect is less impressive than Gillette would have you believe.
  • I keep catching my skin in awkward angles when I use this.

However, I”ve also noticed that these blades seem to dull rather quickly — more quickly than with the Venus Divine razors. I constantly find myself wanting to reach for a different razor just a few weeks after I switch it out. I’m not getting a close, lasting shave.

My Schick Hydro Silk and my Venus Divine, which I suppose is a step down from the Embrace because it has only four blades compared to the Embrace’s 5, don’t do this. I get a close shave that lasts, and I don’t feel as self conscious about how long I’ve gone between shaves.

When I bought these replacement cartridges, I did so because they were a good sale from CVS and I got some points. It was still a good deal overall, but I am unlikely to buy this product again.

I was wondering if it was worth it to “upgrade” to the Venus Embrace. Thanks for your honest review. Guess I’ll stick with what I’ve got!

I bought one because my friend swore by hers….I hated it!! it really ragged my legs up and seemed dull before I got half a leg shaved. I need you to know, I am not hairy at all, I only have to shave every few weeks. Really disappointed
