Victoria Jackson Cosmetics Foundation Duo

I’ll be honest: I hadn’t heard of Victoria Jackson before having the chance to try this product. The claim of “no makeup makeup” is certainly bold. Don’t we all want to look flawless.. as though it were natural? So, I was given the chance to try the Foundation Duo.

One of the things I’d forgotten about was how convenient is it to use a compact. This specific compact has two comparments: one where the foundation is and one where the sponge is. So you can keep your clean nice and sponge. This is good for keeping bacteria away from your skin; although, you might still opt to clean the sponge.

It’s been a while since I’ve used a sponge. I tend to use my fingers with the mousse foundation I’ve been using. Sponges do have one downside: they suck up a lot of makeup. If you’re concerned, you could use your fingers. A foundation brush likely won’t work very well when it comes to a thicker cream like this, however.

The makeup itself is split into two areas. One’s lighter and one’s darker. You can blend them for the perfect shade or pick whichever one that will blend better with your skin. I opted for the light palette, but perhaps I should have gone for medium. My skin has had a rosy tint lately that’s hard to even out, and this foundation wasn’t quite enough. Fortunately, there are first different duos to choose from, so you don’t have to deal with a one-size-fits-all solution like you so frequently do with BB creams. I could definitely tell the difference between the two shades in the compact. It was less obvious on my skin after blended in, but you can definitely see it in these swatches.

The foundation provides a medium coverage. It’s good if you have no major problem areas, but some people might require more coverage. Right now, I’m one of those people. It’s also a very matte coverage. In winter, this is maybe too dry looking for my skin. I topped it off with Olay’s Satin finish lotion to get a little more dewy, but I’m not sure if I love the look. The two products just don’t seem to work well together. I may have gone a little over the top with the lotion, however.

I’m not quite in love with this foundation duo. I really like the idea but prefer the thicker coverage of the foundation I’ve been using. I will probably wind up keeping this compact in my purse to use when I’m out and about and I feel as though I need a little boost.
