A Torrid Night on the Town

Date Tue, March 18 2014

I have recently rediscovered my love for Torrid — a store that sells elegant yet unique plus-sized clothing. As someone who often falls just shy of plus, shopping can be a trial, but Torrid makes it easy. Unfortunately, we don’t have a local Torrid store, but you can do all the shopping online. In fact, you’ll find some awesome sales. I’ll likely be promoting Torrid a lot since I became an affiliate (I may make a percentage of commission if you click these links and order something, but you should order something anyway!)

Current Torrid Sales and Coupons

There’s two going on right now — today!

  1. Gets 30% off everything with code WILD1
  2. BOGO 1/2 off with code BOGO50ALL  — ends tonight!

Start with the Dress

Dresses from daytime to date night

Dresses from daytime to date night

Maybe it’s little and black or bold and bright. Whatever your style is — and even if it changes tomorrow — the dress is the one piece that comes first. Torrid always has a few that I like, and many of them are versatile. Add a blazer to wear the Illusion Yoke Lace Dress to work. You could do the same with the Faux Leather Trim Bodycon Dress. But the Faux Leather Splice Strapless Bodycon Dress just isn’t going to pass muster in the office. That’s okay. It’s just a little too hot!

Now, you might be saying that my old colors — or lack there of — are showing. But there are plenty of colorful dresses, too! The Mesh Yoke Lace Dress has black lace overlayed on an eggshell color that’s gorgeous. It would work for a wedding or party. And the Lace Yoke Ruched Dress? To be honest, it looks a little lackluster on the model, but all the reviewers say that the ruched green dress hugs them in all the right places in person.  If you’re looking for casual, look no further than the Faux Wrap Knit Dress.  Pair it with a belt, black leggings and booties or a cardigan for three different looks.

The Perfect Shoes

I recently wrote a post about shoes, but you can get everything you need for your date night or girls’ night out from Torrid. Many of their shoes have a punk or goth-inspired flare that I love! The Studded Ankle Strap Heel is a perfect example of feminine chic meets goth pinup. It also comes in red!

The Cutout Heeled Booties  are funky and mod, and they’ll go well with either of the black dresses. If you like the lace dress in blue, I think you could try the Color Block Zipper Heels. They’re reasonable to walk in but the zipper adds something that I love. They’d also work well with black slacks at the office to show off your rocker style without breaking the dress code.

Top It Off With Accessories

Bangles and bracelets and pendants -- oh my!

Bangles and bracelets and pendants — oh my!

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that accessorizing is difficult for me. I don’t like yellow gold and my ears aren’t pierced. I’m better with complementary colors than I am working contrasting colors together, but I’ll give it a whirl for you, my lovely readers! If you’re going for a heavier, rocker style, then the Mixed Metal Multi-Chain Layered Bracelet is right up your alley. The Chains & Gemstones Layered Necklace is similar and might even look good together!

I’m not even sure how to describe the Braided Bead Necklace. Is it baroque inspired?! I think it would look great with that form-fitting strapless sweetheart dress from above. The Letter Pendant Necklaces are delicate and feminine, however. Sadly, Torrid doesn’t sell every letter of the alphabet. Don’t forget about your fingers with the Pave Rhinestone Ring Set.

And earrings? Stylish silver hoops are something even I can’t argue with! I love sets like the Crystal & Turquoise Bangle Set because I don’t have to try to match thing. Yes, I said I don’t like gold. I’m making an exception. The comic book geek in me can’t get enough of these Pow Earrings, either! Finally, the Teardrop Threader Earrings are ultra sophisticated and unique. Even I want pierced ears.

Like I mentioned, the BOGO sale ends today, but you’ve got a little more time for 30% off. Let me know if you buy anything!

I think we have a Torrid store in our local mall! I remember seeing it recently and thinking the clothes were super cute. I like the dress in the bottom left of your collage.

Torrid has changed a lot since I last shopped there! I also fall just short of plus size but I’ll be checking out their dresses for some events I have coming up.

Thanks for the tip. I could use some new earrings–I just lost my favorite pair.

When I was younger, I really like their goth-ish style but I think we’be both grown up
