My latest review is of yet another acne treatment. This time, it’s a pretty good one and I hope my skin doesn’t become accustomed to it any time soon. I don’t want to have to switch anytime soon but my skin does have a habit of failing to react to face washes after a couple months which is pretty common. Shampoo and deodorant can do the same thing, too, which is why it’s recommended to switch them on a regular basis but I don’t do that as much as I should because I hate shopping for new health and beauty products.

<img style="float:left; margin:4px; padding: 4px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qRsctOpoSEY/SisSeJSqztI/AAAAAAAAAZY/V4qIQWTzJ_I/s200/ambi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5344385691904822994" />
I was not familiar with Ambi products when I saw this face wash at Wal-mart. I thought it looks simply and classy and I was intrigued by its promises to not only fight acne but to help “visibly improve skin tone & texture”. As someone who has always been a bit blotchy, I was doubly hooked so I added the product to my cart and away I went.

I’ve used this product just under a month, probably, and have say say I am really impressed. The exfoliating beads are tiny, non-abrasive but feel effective all the same. Combined with the scent which only matches products I’ve previously used as spas, and this really feels like a luxurious, high end product that I might actually have purchased from a spa.

And it works, too. There have maybe been 3 days when I used this that I suffered from any break outs and one was a day when I skipped my shower/face wash so I’d say sticking to the routine helps this product work better. However, even when I was faced with blemishes, they disappeared within 48 hours tops.

Like the bottle advertises, it does seem like marks from these blemishes are much lighter than they would be with other products. While my facial texture isn’t perfect, it does seem improved. My skin seem fresh and soft and I’ve never been a big fan of exfoliating washes. I suppose Ambi Even & Clear Exfoliating wash has won me over. Makeup seems to go on better and, overall, I really like the way my skin looks and feels are compared to how it was before I started using this product.

Now, before I sat down to write this review I thought I’d look up the product because, as I said, I’ve never heard of it before and wanted to find out new it is. It turns out, Ambi products have been out for over a decade but are geared towards skin of colour. although this face wash is one of the newer products in the line, it’s still been out for about 4 years. I figure, I just haven’t seen it because it may have been shelved separately from regular facial care products. Ambi Even & Clear Exfoliating Face Wash may have been meant for coloured skin – although, there’s no mention of this on the bottle – but it sure works great for my pasty, white girl skin. ;)

I’m back to using the last of the Clean and Clear Advantage which was in my shower. I really like it, but it could stand to be a bit thicker. On a slightly related subject, I’m waiting for my red and sensitive skin to tone down now that I’m in a less harsh climate. On another semi-related note, I’ll be putting up a foundation review sometime in the near future.

<img style="float:left; margin:4px; padding: 4px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qRsctOpoSEY/SdbtLLVxRmI/AAAAAAAAAX4/cMRLQDVlFk8/s200/neutrogenastresscontrolscrub.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320700786063263330" />
I don’t necessarily know if my acne is stress related but I figured it couldn’t hurt to try Neutrogena’s new Stress Control acne face wash as I’ve tried at least a dozen other products out there. Containing cucumber and green tea, both of which are ingredients people frequently use for facial treatments, it seemed like a good product. Plus, the light green colour reminded me of spa treatments and the soft cucumber scent was refreshing. Unfortunately, I really found this product to be average at best.

While I didn’t have any major break outs while using this product, I found that my type of acne seemed to change from normal pimples to the tiny, painful whiteheads and even some blemishes that seemed to ever refuse to actually surface. Whatever the “Microclear” technology is which is supposed to be in this product, it is too small for me to see it.

And while the package claims that it will reduce stress and strain on your face, I wasn’t sold. This didn’t help to battle and my skin seemed to become super sensitive and red when I went home. Granted, the weather was colder and dryer but I was definitely seeing more of a reaction than I would expect from a ‘soothing’ facial wash. On the other hand, the scent was really soothing even if it only lasted the duration of my shower. I think that my skin felt refreshed after washing but perhaps it was mostly in my mind and due to the scent.

I found Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub to be a little thick and I’m not overly fond of things being in my face wash. The tiny scrubbing beads weren’t abrasive but occasionally annoying.

One plus I noticed, was that my skin didn’t seem to become really oily. I frequently experience oily skin in the morning but this was not a problem with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub.

Overall, I cannot say anything more about this mediocre product. It smells great but maybe wasn’t the product for me. If you experience a lot of acne which you believe to be stress related, I might try it out; otherwise, step in another direction.
