I don’t think we’re doing much today, maybe seeing a movie and waiting around for our nonexistent trick or treaters (no one showed up last year!).

Anyway, last night I was organizing the bathroom cabinets because all our cosmetic stuff and cleaning stuff was super disorganized despite having more than ample room. I’ve been on a little organizing kick (I cleaned off the desk the other day, too; I actually have room for office supply). I had to forcefully remind Ryan not to buy anymore soap, body wash, mouthwash, hair gel or deodorant before looking in the cabinets because he has multiples of everything yet he still buys more. Ugh.

I don’t tihnk much of it mostly because I don’t think much of our car but, even if I did, I’m not really a car person so I can go either way. As far as customizing goes, I’m fine with bumper stickers and maybe a steering wheel cover (LOL) so don’t even ask me what hid kits! Anyway, I guess he was serious but I still don’t care.

but I’m cheap when it comes to shopping, especially if it’s something I don’t really need and expensive. I’ve held off on things I wanted and would have been quite useful for years. Despite this, Ryan takes the time to show me TVs whenever we’re in the BX just because, if we do buy one, we’d save a bit on taxes there. While that’s true, our TV is certainly good enough and doesn’t need to be replaced yet. I can’t deny that a new flatscreen, LCD TV would be an improvement but I will hold out for the best possible price, even if it’s an unknown brand because.. I’m cheap like that.

Last night I had a strange dream. Actually, strange dreams are the norm for me. Every night I dream something unique and totally bizarre that would make for a crazy story the next morning – if I remember it, that is. So last night I had this dream where I was with Ryan and someone else trying to get “home” (or at least away from where we were) and it was all very odd and, as usual, there were a million obstacles in our way. When we finally got home (and for some reason we were moving in furniture), we found everything burned and looted. I was pretty bummed but I think I knew I was dreaming so it wasn’t as bad as it might be. In real life, I’d be devastated and it’s a great reminder to have renters or home insurance.

Now, usually my dreams stem pretty directly from things I saw or heard during the day but I don’t recall reading or watching anything about someone’s house burning down at all. Our home certainly didn’t burn down (although we did have to listen to the beep of the smoke alarm for over 30 hours as the battery died). Nor have I known anyone who has suffered fire anytime recently. In that respect, it was even more unusual than normal.

The other day, Ryan was putting away DVDs he had taken with him as well as taking some out from the boxes in our little storage/laundry unit so that he could trade them in. Despite the heat, I hung out with him a bit and we both remarked how we’d like to be able to use our little patio area. Maybe just throw some chairs out there. Unfortunately, being on the first floor and facing the road makes it awkward and we also don’t have any railing separating us from the lawn. So while I’d like to be able to use it, I’d feel strange if we actually did. But I wouldn’t mind using the space to wash out the litter box or even the dish rack sometimes (because I have no sprayer on the kitchen sink). Like we’d ever be pressure washers owners. Ha!

For example, I’m sure no one will be surprised if I say I wouldn’t want to wear white and Ryan won’t have to go shopping for a tuxedo shirt or anythng. Which is why I am planning a wedding of sorts. And it will likely be a vow renewal anyway, as that makes the most sense. For whatever reason, I’ve just been thinking about this a lot lately. I guess maybe that’s a sign? d=

And not even mine. Ryan just bought a new laptop (a Compaq) from BestBuy the other day. I’m a little jealous because I have had my computer for some time and I wouldn’t mind a new system but I certainly do not need one. Everything that comes with a laptop these days is just so more advanced than my little old desktop. With built in blue tooth, WiFi, mics and cams, DVD drives (I don’t even have a functioning CD-R/RW!) and who knows what else, it seems like he’ll be set for a while with this laptop (if he takes good care of it). The only thing I might add is an actual pair of cheap computer speakers because laptop speakers don’t tend to have the best quality.

But, hopefully, sometime in the next year I can add a laptop to my collection as well. I really want something in red (Dell, Vaio and Gateway all make ‘em in red) and will probably go for a refurbish model just to save some money. For now, I can just be jealous.

I think my shopping will generally increase once we move. Ryan and I are both looking forward to Wal-mart, Target and the like. Not only having the options, but being able to leave the store with the item we desired without having to wait weeks for it to arrive in the mail or having to pay shipping will be problems of the past. I’ll gladly deal with having to pay sales tax for that.

Of course, there’s a few things I don’t quite love about Wal-mart. Some of the stores are extremely poor in regards to stock, customer service and appearance, especially depending upon the neighbourhood and demographic.

Another thing I don’t miss, although I won’t like have to deal with anytime soon was as an employee. Wal-mart received a lot of prank phone calls. In general, it’s a company that gets a lot of crap simply because it’s big and I imagine this has a lot to do with why people choose to make prank calls.

Off the top of my head, I remember someone calling in using a sound board of Arnold Shwarzenegger. Another time, someone called in, donned a fake “Indian”-style accent and inquired as to whether we have adult diaper in different flavours because he needed them for his 6 wives.

Sometimes it’s fun to play along and sometimes I forwarded the calls to management. Of course, sometimes I just hung up. We didn’t need to deal with that crap.
