As much as I’d like to toss it, sometimes I just have to open it to see if it’s worth keeping. A lot of this junk mail is car insurance quotes. Everyone thinks we’re overpaying. That may be the case, don’t know. But we also don’t have a car anymore so who needs free insurance quotes? I don’t know if I avoided this harassment before because I didn’t have a car or if it’s just really bad in Texas. I’ll blame Texas.

Summer means a lot of things. According to the Lifetime channel, it’s skin season. Samantha plans to spend all summer playing Maplestory with me, when she’s not in her pool. I’m not enough to consider our community pool myself but haven’t had the chance yet. Wendy and I wanted to hang out there a few months ago but it wasn’t open. WTF. It’s Texas. It’s never cold enough to shut the pool! I don’t swim anyway so it’s no great loss (I’d definitely be more upset if it was something like the great pool at the Sahara hotel in Vegas) but I wouldn’t mind cooling off. My trips to Wal-mart can only really take place in the wee morning hours or I’ll melt. I still get a little puddly as is. Luckily our A/C never goes out. Oh, didn’t you read?

I spent 30 – 40 minutes outside the other day walking to the bank and gas station and I look in the mirror before my shower only to see I’m sunburned on my arms and chest. WTF is up with that? I don’t know why people like heat so much. They’re nuts.

You know the one thing I’m looking forward to? Road trips. I don’t know what’s in Texas but I think I might like to (and in a vehicle with A/C to boot). I haven’t gone on a lot of road trips and they all have very specific destinations and routes but I do know that, with the right people, they’re a TON of fun!

We’ve been loathe to do that here being in a foreign country with tiny roads that are not named like American roads and without a cell phone but most of that won’t be an issue back in the states and, hey, we could always check out something like Garmin GPS so we don’t get lost!

By warm, I mean in the the lower 70s which is the point at which I become uncomfortable thus uncomfortable to be around. Of course, it doesn’t help when I think these thoughts that will soon be heading to San Antonio, Texas. And then it doesn’t help when I consider all the large purchases we will need to be making: car, bedroom set, insurance, and whatever else pops up.

I’m sure some people cool their bodies and heads by taking a dip in the pool and even Ryan has been perusing some apartments with pools but as swimming is not my thing, I’m much more likely to be shopping for parasol than pool floats.

Still, some good things are sure to arise from this and I look forward to them. Visiting family will by a mighty bit cheaper, stores will be more, more varied and open 24/hours, restaurants of every type will crave my patronage and activities will abound.
